I have worked with children in some capacity since I was sixteen years old–as a youth leader, group home administrator and crisis counselor, teacher, and school administrator. I hold an MA in educational administration from Azusa Pacific University as well as my secondary teaching and administrative credentials. I am a life-long learner and am constantly studying ways to help children learn more efficiently and more easily and help relieve children’s medical conditions. I am a student of natural medicine, and one day I hope to complete my homeopathy certification. I am a licensed Brain Gym instructor and practitioner and a Rhythmic Movement Provider.
I spent five years as a facility administrator of a group home for sexually abused young ladies. From there, I went back to college, finished my B.A. In English and entered the teaching field as an English and ELD teacher in San Bernardino. The next 15 years found me serving in a variety of capacities in education, including designing curriculum and instruction; leading staff development; data analysis and dissemination; assessment design; curriculum/standards alignment; creation of English Learner plans; as a classroom teacher, and school site administrator. As a site assistant principal at both the middle and high school levels, I oversaw special education and attended approximately 150 IEPs a year. In 2005 I began New Vision Children’s Services with my good friend, Helen Robinson. For two years, we had a non-profit autism center, which I ran. I used these neurodevelopmental techniques extensively there and saw remarkable improvement with the clients I served. I currently teaches an RSP/SDC collaborative Reading Intervention class at a public high school, run my non-profit organization, see clients when I am able and spend as much time as I can with my family.
